The Honorable Abdoulie Jobe, Minister of Tourism, Arts, and Culture, led a high-powered Gambian delegation to the 68th United Nations Tourism Regional Commission for Africa conference, currently underway in Abuja, Nigeria, from June 11 to 13, 2025
The three-day event gathered African tourism ministers, permanent secretaries, directors general, and other tourism professionals and experts under one roof to exchange ideas and experiences on the theme: “Boosting Social Impact and Education in Tourism via Innovation, AI and Creative Industries in Africa.”
Delegates are expected to participate in high-level sessions, including a technical workshop on digital skills for tourism professionals, panel discussions on AI and creative industries, and presentations on innovative projects across Africa.
As Africa’s tourism industry continues to recover and grow after the disruptions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, this year’s CAF meeting is expected to generate renewed momentum, practical policy recommendations, and deeper cooperation across borders.
Accompanying the Gambia’s Tourism Minister were Mrs. Amie Njie, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture; Mr. Abubacarr S. Camara, Director General, Gambia Tourism Board; and Mr. Nuha Touray, Gambia’s Ambassador to the Kingdom of Spain.
