In our efforts to expand and decentralise the work of the Sports Journalists’ Association of The Gambia the SJAG-URR Chapter was recently launched.
The event presided over by the national executive under leadership of President Omar Jarju and attended by various regional partners marks a significant milestone in our mission to bring together sports writers, reporters, and aspiring journalists to promote and advance all sporting activities within the region.
Also, as part of these efforts, the SJAG-URR Chapter, in partnership with the Basse District Sports Committee, has recently introduced the “Team of the Week” and “Player of the Week” awards to foster healthy competition among teams and players participating in the Basse Subzone Nawetan 2025.
The chapter has also established its interim executive, which is led by Buba Carr F. Jallow as President, Muhammed Susso as Vice President, Fatoumatta Jabbie as Secretary General, Kawuding Camara as Treasurer, and Muhammed Lamin Trawally as Public Relations Officer.
The SJAG-URR is committed beyond merely reporting on sporting activities; we aim to uphold the principles of journalism by holding power accountable for the advancement of sports in URR.
