
The National Assembly with support from UNICEF Gambia, on Friday commenced a three-day Dialogue with children and adolescence notably members of the National Youth Parliament (NYP) and the Children National Assembly of The Gambia (CNAG) under the theme: โStrengthening Youth and Adolescent Representation through Collaborative Leadership and Dialogue.โ
The engagement aims to enhance the representation and participation of young people in national processes, with a particular focus on legislative engagement, child rights, and civic leadership.
The engagement officially opened with welcome remarks from the Chair of the Health Committee, Clerk of the National Assembly, a representative from UNICEF, the NYP Deputy Speaker, and the CNAG Coordinator. The opening session provided an overview of the engagements objectives and agenda.
The sessions focus on how to strengthen social protection mechanisms for children and adolescence and improve advocacy on the rights and welfare of children.
This annual dialogue continues to serve as a platform for empowering youth voices and building a stronger and more inclusive legislative process that reflects the perspectives and priorities of children and adolescents across The Gambia.
