The Police are investigating a fuel tanker fire that occurred on Friday, August 29, 2025, at Brufut Ghana Town while fuel was being offloaded from a tanker (Reg. No. BJL 6124 R).
The tanker, belonging to Samasam Company and owned by Aziz Sam, was offloading into a container operated by local vendor Sheikh Tijan Njie (Premix).
The fire destroyed the tanker, an outboard engine, a pumping machine, a generator, a motorbike, a bicycle, and an unspecified amount of cash.
Two people, Ali Touray (driver) and Abdou Touray (apprentice), are confirmed dead, both burnt beyond recognition. Two others, Lamin Jarju (apprentice) and Sulayman Faal, sustained life-threatening injuries and remain hospitalized at Kanifing General Hospital.
The scene has been cordoned and reconstructed by the CSI team, while eyewitnesses are assisting investigators.
The Police, together with stakeholders, are working to establish the circumstances leading to the cause of the fire incident.
