The Gambia Police Force, in collaboration with the Office of National Security and with support from UNDP, has successfully concluded a three-day capacity-building training for security institutions on Male Gender Champions. The training was held from Tuesday, November 18th to Thursday, November 20th, 2025, at the Sir Dawda Kairaba Jawara Conference Centre.
The event, graced by Ms. Mandisa Mashologu, UNDP Country Resident Representative, brought together participants from the Gambia Police Force, Gambia Armed Forces, Gambia Prison Service, Gambia Fire and Rescue Service, and the State Intelligence Service.
The training focused on strengthening the capacity of male security personnel to promote gender equality, support womenโs participation in leadership roles, advocate for the elimination of all forms of discrimination, and enhance knowledge sharing among gender units and female networks within the security sector.
The Gambia Police Force delegation included Sub-Inspector Lamin Kebbeh of the Child & Gender Unit, Sergeant Buba NK Touray of the Press Office, Corporal Foday Nyassi of the Community Policing Unit, and 1st Class Musa Seckan of the Child & Gender Unit.
Speaking on behalf of the GPF, Sub-Inspector Lamin Kebbeh delivered a presentation on Gender Concepts and Sexual Harassment, Exploitation, and Abuse.
The training concluded with a certification ceremony for all participants.
The Gambia Police Force reaffirms its commitment to advancing gender issues and promoting gender equality across all leadership structures within the institution.
