Blackmail and money extortion: 5 foreign cybercriminals arrested by the BR of Keur Massar
The Search Brigade of the Keur Massar gendarmerie company continues its operations against crime with remarkable results.
Following a complaint filed on Friday, December 12, 2025 by a foreign national for blackmail and money extortion, elements of the Keur Massar Search Brigade have opened an investigation, Seneweb learned from Colonel Ibrahim Ndiaye.
Investigations have allowed to identify and locate a gang of criminals composed exclusively of foreign nationals. Their modus operandi was based on identity usurpation: they created fake accounts on social networks (Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp) pretending to be known personalities.
Through these fraudulent profiles, they offered their victims fictitious convenience items for the sole purpose of extorting money.
The surprise search conducted on Friday, December 18, 2025 allowed the interpellation of five individuals caught in the act. The suspects were found sitting around tables, surrounded by laptops, engaged in surfing and online scams.
Dismantling a second criminal network
This arrest is part of a series of operations conducted by the same unit. The BR of Keur Massar had interpelled 15 alleged assailants in the Keur Massar forest, following numerous reports of assaults. These individuals, operating in groups of two to three people, used white weapons and neutralizing gases to control their victims before stripping them.
With these two punch-handed operations, the Dakar Gendarmerie Legion under the command of Colonel Malick Faye managed to dismantle two networks of evildoers in a span of time.
