Major move for The Gambia as His Excellency, President Adama Barrow, launches the country’s first-ever National Land Policy (2026 to 2035) to guide land-sector governance.
This reform policy aims to recognise all legitimate land ownership, promote responsible land use, address land conflicts, gender equity in land ownership, and empower youths through capacity-building.
The National Land Policy is a game-changer for The Gambia, and its impact will be felt across all communities through secure land rights, improved transparency, and measurable accountability in land management, economic growth, and youth empowerment.
Delivering his statement, President Barrow said the formulation of this policy has been a central pillar of the government’s reform agenda as reflected in its political manifestos and the Recovery-Focused National Development Plan (2023 to 2027) – YIRIWA.
