The Gambia made a significant stride towards improved health care services as His Excellency President Adama Barrow presided over the presentation of twelve million Dollars worth of medical items donated by the Cornerstone Foundation in partnership with the MAP International earlier today.
President Barrow described this donation as the largest health related support in Gambian history. He expressed deep gratitude to Cornerstone, MAP International, and EFSTH’s leadership for their patriotism and dedication.
The President praises Dr. Mustapha Bittaye and medical practitioners for their sacrifice, assuring them of his government’s commitment to modernising facilities and improving their work conditions. He further urged the private sector to emulate Cornerstone, stressing that national development is a shared responsibility.
Chief Executive Director of Cornerstone Olley Faal expressed pride in donating the life-saving items as part of their commitment to giving back to society while emphasizing the importance of government-private sector collaborations.
The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Health, Dr. Yusupha Touray, conveyed gratitude to the donors and commended His Excellency President Barrow for his steadfast dedication to prioritising improved health services.
The Cornerstone Foundation has earlier this year donated over one million Dalasis worth of medicine to The Gambia and contributed to major health sector projects such as solar power for EFSTH’s operating theatre and the renovation of the Paediatric Surgical Unit. These humanitarian interventions have strengthened healthcare delivery and improved patient care nationwide.
