The H.E. President Adama Barrow Serrekunda SK West Mini Stadium Ramadan Tournament Night was officially opened by the esteemed Hon. Minister of Youth and Sports, Bakary Y. Badjie.
In his address, Minister Badjie highlighted the strong commitment of President Barrow towards youth development and sports. He noted that he had personally discussed the tournament with the President, who is a great advocate for football and supports youth-driven initiatives. The Minister praised the President’s passion for the sport, which motivated him to fully support the Ramadan football tournament, providing a platform for young people to actively engage in sports during the holy month.
The Minister emphasized that football is a beloved sport among young people in the country and events like this not only nurture talent but also keep them positively engaged and away from trouble. Through friendly competition, the initiative promotes unity, discipline, and community spirit.
He also highlighted the presence of members from the National People’s Party (NPP) at the event, which showcases the party’s dedication to sports development and youth empowerment. Minister Badjie assured the audience that the government is committed to supporting more initiatives that create opportunities for young people.
Hon. Seedy SK Njie also spoke at the event and stressed the significance of youth engagement. He acknowledged that young people make up a large portion of the population, especially at the grassroots level. The tournament was organized to honor the youth of Kanifing Municipality (KM) and aligns with the broader vision of the National People’s Party.
Hon. Njie expressed gratitude to President Barrow for his continuous support and stated that youth empowerment is a top priority for the party.
