Livity of Zion donates D40,000 worths of foodstuffs, medical items in The Gambia

 

Livity of Zion, a United Kingdom based charity has donated about forty thousands (D40,000) worths of foodstuffs and medical items to needy Gambians and health facilities in the country.

The gesture includes 5 bags of rice;
5 bags of medical items;
2 bags of food shopping: sanitary pads; tablets of soap; snacks; big bag of nappies and bags of pasta.

The medical items were presented at the Edward Francis Small Teaching Hospital (EFSTH) in Banjul, Ahmed Clinic and Kunting Health Centre in the Central River Region north, while the foodstuffs were donated to Kibiri Village in the Sami District of the Central River Region north.

The gesture aims to support the needy Gambians with food items to help household heads to sustain their families.

The donation of medical items meants to complement government effort in providing healthcare access to all.

In her presentation, Nubia Zuhrah, executive director of Livity of Zion said the ultimate goal of the organization is to support the needy people in the Gambia, and across Africa.

“We brought this foodstuffs and sanitary items to support you,” she told the people of Kibiri Village.

Speaking further she said, the organization donated the medical items to the health facilities to complement government efforts in ensuring access to medical health.

She urged beneficiaries to share the foodstuffs judiciously, while assured that her organization would continue supporting in other areas.

Representing the head of Kibiri Village Babucarr Boye commended Livity of Zion for the humanitarian gesture. He said the foodstuffs would go along way in helping household heads in putting food on the table.

Ndey Gaye, women representative expressed gratitude to Livity of Zion for the donation.

“Both the foodstuffs and the sanitary items are essential to us. Therefore, we prayed that Allah bestow His blessings on you in a abondance.

She further appealed to the organization to support the village with a community garden, skills centre, and market.

Speaking on behalf of the Officer In Charge (OIC) of Kunting Health Centre, Mamut Sallah, a public health officer described the gesture as timely. He said the health facility is constraints with medical apparatus, medication and public health working items.

“We are urging the organization to help us with more to ease our work, he appealed.

Jacqueline Gordon, a member of the UK delegation said all the success of the organization is due to the efforts and commitment of the founder, Nubia Zuhrah.

The organization is developing gradually, she noted.
