After 19 days of travelling across The Gambia, listening to communities and visiting development projects, the Meet the People Tour 2026 concludes in Banjul, with a focus on initiatives aimed at improving lives and creating opportunities. From the inauguration of the $736,700 elevated water storage tank, which will provide clean water to more than 15,000 residents, to a visit to the Crab Island TVET Centre, where young people are acquiring practical skills for their future, the final day highlights the everyday needs and aspirations of Gambians.
The President also inspected the reconstruction of the KG5 Mini Stadium, which will provide improved sporting and recreational facilities, and toured the new fish smokehouse designed to offer local fish processors a safer working environment.
Behind every project are people and families who need reliable access to water, young people working towards a brighter future, sports enthusiasts looking for better facilities, and women and men whose livelihoods depend on fish processing.
As the Meet the People Tour comes to an end, its central message remains the same: development matters most when it makes a meaningful difference in people’s lives
