Officers from the Gambia Immigration Department (GID), joined by colleagues from the Police Force, Armed Forces, and State Intelligence Service, have wrapped up a two-week training program at the Italian Police Training Academy in Nettuno.
The capacity-building initiative, part of bilateral cooperation between The Gambia and Italy, focused on migration management, border security, and document fraud. Participants also received exposure to combating organized crime, including human trafficking and migrant smuggling, and toured Italy’s forensic facilities and Fiumicino Airport for practical insights.
Officials say the training strengthens The Gambia’s ability to tackle transnational crime and reinforces its role in global migration management.
