Talib Ahmed Bensouda has resigned as Kanifing Municipal Council mayor ahead of his expected presidential nomination for the United Movement for Change (UNITE).

He is expected to submit his nomination papers to the Independent Electoral Commission tomorrow, Saturday, November 7, 2026, ahead of the December 5 presidential election. The resignation marks his departure from the mayor’s office as he pursues the presidency.
