MoCDE Signs $180,000 Grant Agreement with ECOWAS Commission
BANJUL 03.05.2024 | On the sidelines of the OIC Banjul Summit, the Ministry of Communications and Digital Economy (MoCDE) has signed a 180,000-dollar grant agreement with the ECOWAS Commission. The grant is aimed at modernizing the Gambia government operations and enhancing online service.
The Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Ousman Bah, thanked the ECOWAS Commission for the unwavering support rendered to The Gambia. He said the 16-million-dalasi grant will help digitalise public service and promote digital governance in the country.
Dr Omar Touray, the ECOWAS Commission President, said the grant aims to boost digital innovation and empower the citizenry. He said ECOWAS has given close to D130 million in support across various areas in the past two years, assuring the minister of the Commission’s continuous collaboration.
Dr Ismaila Ceesay, the Minister of Information, thanked the ECOWAS president for his dedication to supporting member states, especially The Gambia. He extended President Adama Barrow’s gratitude to the ECOWAS delegation.
