Baba F Trawally,the Amir of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at has clarified that they are not a new religion but true Muslims and believe in the oneness of Allah and all his prophets and messengers.The added that the Ahmadis adhere to Islamic values and. agree that the Holy Quran is a devine book.
The Amir was speaking on Friday while delivering his key note address at the official opening of the 47th Jalsa Salana underway at Nusrat Senior Secondary School grounds,Bundung.
Thousands of Ahmadis from across the length and breath of the Gambia are in attendance including others from the neighborhooring countries.
Amir Trawally further calls on religions leaders to preach peace in their sermons and focus on positive messages.He pointed out that different faiths and religions must be tolerant, respect each other and live together in peace.
Some of the idea behind the Jalsa Salana includes increasinf one’s communion with Allah the Almighty,
To pray for those brothers who have passed away,
To meet new members and increase in Brotherhood and
To gain and increase in knowledge.
The chief quess Vice President Muhammad BS Jallow commended the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at for their outstanding contributions to national developmentโespecially in the sectors of education, healthcare, and information technology. He acknowledged the Jama’atโs selfless efforts in supporting the underprivileged across the country.
He further expressed appreciation for their continued partnership with the government in advancing The Gambiaโs development agenda.
The Amir of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at in The Gambia, Baba F Trawally expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Vice President and the government for their longstanding support and collaboration, which have allowed the Jama’at to operate smoothly and contribute meaningfully to national progress.
Jalsa Salana is a formal, annual gathering of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community. It was initiated in 1891 by Mirza Ghulam Ahmad, the founder of the community, in Qadian, India. Usually, the gathering spans three days, beginning with the flflag-hoistingeremony following the Friday Sermon.
