Ex Jungular officer Lt. Col. Sanna Manjang has arrived at the Kanifing Magistrates’ Court to make his first appearance over alleged crimes committed during the rule of ex-President Yahya Jammeh.
Manjang was arrested last weekend in Senegal’s southern Casamance region, where he is believed to have been living since fleeing The Gambia in 2017 following the end of Jammeh’s 22-year rule.
He was repeatedly named in testimonies before the Truth, Reconciliation and Reparations Commission (TRRC), which accused him of participating in extrajudicial killings, torture, and enforced disappearances. He has not yet responded publicly to the allegations.
A heavy security presence, including military police from Fajara Barracks, escorted Manjang to the court on Wednesday afternoon.
Proceedings are expected to continue later.
