DONOR FATIGUE CHALLENGE: FABAKARY OPTED FOR LOCAL INITIATIVES  TO  EMPOWER RURAL RESIDENTS.

Bearing in mind that external donor funding is limited and cannot continue forever, Fabakary Sanneh took up the bold initiative as a grassroots community development activist and began mobilising local means to tackle rural development challenges.

In an exclusive interview with  BlockTV, Mr  Sanneh pointed out that rural infrastructural and other essentials need to be addressed, and the role of the community is crucial, noting that donors cannot continue to spoon-feed us but our local initiative is what is more sustainable.

” Construction of water facilities, rehabilitation and construction of schools, public toilets and our recreational grounds must not be left entirely to donors but the input of the beneficiary rural community should be visible,” he said

” I was born in a  rural community and faced many challenges, this is what motivated me to create my own foundation in rural communities trying to help vulnerable people especially children, poor families and youth. I lobby sponsors through others and support the basic needs of poor children and families. I train them, organise camps, sports, creative events like dramas, and competitions., “Fabakary Sanneh is the founder and president of the Fabakary Rural Community support initiative, a Local non-profit making organization operating in Vulnerable communities in Rural Gambia. The organisation according to Mr Sanneh assist in the Basic needs of vulnerable communities and sports development.
