BAC Chairman addressed delegates at World Conference of Mayors Annual event in US


Honourable Sheriffo Sonko, Chairman of Brikama Area Council, has today addressed thousands of delegates at the 2023 Annual World Conference of Mayors in Orlando United States from 25th-29th January 2023.

The theme of this year’s Global Platform of City and Local Governments is “Building Sustainable Cities and Communities and addressing other Challenges Facing the Families of the World”

The Conference which is being held at Doubletree Hilton Hotel Orlando Downtown is attended by Mayors, from within the United States, Caribbean, Europe and Several African countries such as Senegal, Ghana, The Gambia, Kenya and Guinea-Conkary, Executives from the Public and Private sectors.

Following his nomination as a permanent member of the World Conference of Mayors, Inc. Hon. Sonko expressed his heartfelt delight to speak at the conference that brings together city and local governments, international organizations, multilateral development partners, the business sector, and civil society.

Hon. Sonko expressed optimism that the event will set a renewed direction for global collaboration in building sustainable and resilient cities and communities as enshrined in the Global Agenda 2030 and Agenda 2060.

While commending Honourable Johnny Ford, Founder and CEO of the World Conference of Mayors and team for the foresight in convening this Conference, Hon. Sonko added that the conference is of great importance as it is drawing global attention to the critical need for building sustainable cities and communities while holistically addressing other global challenges.

Speaking further, Hon. Sonko stated that the global dialogue will also serve as a platform for exchanging experiences, sharing lessons learned, and making recommendations on policy frameworks for building sustainable cities and communities and addressing global challenges.

Hon. Sonko is accompanied by Mr Alhagie Jeng and Mrs Adama Bojang Director of Finance and Director of Planning and Development respectively.
