Trafficking tactics exposed at checkpoints: 15 in custody with concealed drugs

The Drug Law Enforcement Agency of the Gambia recently in a press release revealed the arrest and subsequent detention of 15 people at various checkpoints and other localities with suspected drugs.

One of them is a 23-year-old Ablie Njie a resident of Bakau was arrested on the 26th March 2023 at around 14:35hrs onwards with (3) big bundles and (3) parcels of suspected cannabis sativa which is concealed in white and brown paper respectively.

“19 years old Ousman Bojang a resident of Sukuta was arrested on the 25th March 2023 at around 23:30hrs onwards with (14) parcels of suspected cannabis sativa which is concealed in white paper and transparent nylon bag.

21 years Muhammed Keita a resident of Kunkujang was arrested on the 26th March 2023 at around 9:00hrs onwards with (1) a big bundle, (18) parcels, and (22) wraps of suspected cannabis which is concealed in cement and white paper, and placed inside the black and red bag.”

Another youth is a 25 years old Muhammed Touray a resident of Baja Kunda was arrested by Basse DLEAG Station on the 26th March 2023 at around 8:00hrs onwards with some quantities of suspected cannabis sativa which is concealed cement paper.

“22 years old Sebastian Diassy a Senegalese was arrested at Jenoi Check Point on the 27th March 2023 at around 10:05hrs onwards with (2) bundles, (1) wrap, and some quantities of suspected cannabis sativa which is concealed in the brown and white paper, and placed inside a traveling bag with a white Renault Bus with Registration Number LG 8413B.

24 years Ahmed Gaye a Senegalese was arrested at Jenoi Check Point on the 27th March 2023 at around 15:00hrs onwards with (11) big bundles of suspected cannabis sativa which is concealed in brown paper and placed inside a yellow suitcase with a seven-passenger vehicle with Registration number AA 028 KA.

23 years old Ebrima Cham a resident of Tanji Village was arrested on the 27th March 2023 at around 20:00hrs onwards with (43) parcels of suspected cannabis sativa which is concealed in white paper and placed inside his trouser.

20 years old Musa Kujabi,  42 years old Yaya Sanyang, and Malang Saidy who is at-large and both residents of Jalokoto were arrested by Sibanor DLEAG station on the 21st March 2023  with (8) big bundles, (1) parcels, and some quantities of suspected cannabis sativa which is concealed in a cement paper and placed inside a multicolor nylon bag.

48 years old Karafa Jallow and Buba Jallow who is at-large and both residents of Nana-ba village were arrested by Bansang DLEAG station on the 21st March 2023 at around 21:40hrs with (2) medium bundles, (56) wraps, and one plantation of suspected cannabis sativa which is concealed in cement and white paper and placed inside a multicolor nylon bag.

24 years Jereh Gibba a resident of Farato Bojang Kunda was arrested on the 22nd March 2023 at around 17:34hrs onwards with (3) big bundles, (1) parcel, and (297) wraps of suspected cannabis which is concealed in the brown and white paper, and placed inside a multi-color nylon bag.

27 years old Amadou Faye a resident of Bakau was arrested on the 24th March 2023 at around 21:50hrs onwards with (3) wraps of suspected cannabis ruderalis (skunk) which is concealed in a transparent nylon bag.

49 years old Yahya Chune a resident of Jobe Kunda Village was arrested by Soma DLEAG station on the 25th March 2023 at around 18:30hrs onwards with (1) medium bundle and (16) wraps of suspected cannabis sativa which is concealed in a cement paper and placed on the ground and covered with some grasses”

The release concluded that All the suspects are in custody while further investigations continue.
