Modou Lamin Bah, Banjul North lawmaker has called on the National Assembly’s Human Rights Committee to summon the Inspector General of Police over members of Gambians Against Looted Assets arrests.
In a public statement, Bah stressed that the National Assembly’s Human Rights Committee must summon the Inspector General of Police over the youth’s arrests without them breaking any law.
“The National Assembly’s Human Rights Committee must summon the IGP to explain these arrests. Parliament cannot be silent when rights are violated.”
”The Ministry of Interior must remind all officers that The Gambia turned the page on arbitrary detention in 2016. We will not go back.”
At least, 8 members GALA are currently been held in custody at Kairaba Police Station following their arrest at the Westfield on Friday.
