On 17 June 2026, the Gambia Immigration Department’s Border Patrol Unit (BPU) stationed at the Migration Management Unit (MMU) in Tanji intercepted sixty-seven (67) would-be migrants in Gunjur Madina Salam.
The group comprises of, sixty-one (61) Senegalese five (5) Gambians, including sixty -five (65) males and two (2) females.
The well-coordinated interception demonstrates GID’s firm commitment towards curbing irregular migration and through border effective border governance directed at deterring smugglers from using the country as a point of transit to Europe.
The GID reaffirms its commitment to the promotion of regular migration and renews its resolve to deter youths from embarking on the perilous route to Europe.
