The GPF on 21st February 2023 impounded Seven (7) vehicles involved in violating traffic regulations within the greater Banjul area.
The people found in possession of the vehicles are charged with offenses contrary to different sections of the motor traffic act, ranging from “dangerous driving”, “unlicensed vehicles”, “unauthorized use of tinted glass vehicles”, and “other traffic offenses”.
Subsequently, four (4) out of the seven (7) who were arraigned before the Kanifing Tribunal Court were found guilty and fined D15,000.00 each and the fourth D25,000.00 respectively, while the remaining three (3) people will appear before the same court on the 22nd of February 2023.
Similarly, the courts for the 22 drivers who were charged with “failure to display tariffs contrary to Section 4 of the Motor Traffic Regulations” will resume today, the 22nd Feb 2023, before the Kanifing Tribunal Court.
The General Public, especially vehicle owners are advised to desist from giving or renting their vehicles to people involved in such illegal activities that are capable of endangering lives and causing public nuisances.
