His Excellency President Adama Barrow officially yesterday opened a new provincial road in the Upper River Region (URR) that links Basse Manneh Kunda, Demba Kunda, Numuyel, and Gambissara.
This 13.9-kilometer stretch of road serves more than 100,000 people, providing them with better access to markets, hospitals, farms, and other essential services.
Speaking on behalf of the beneficiary communities, the Alkalo of Demba Kunda, Alhagie Degumeh Ceesay Camara, and the Chief of Jimara, Julaba Drammeh, expressed their deep gratitude to President Barrow for the significant relief the road has brought.
Previously, due to poor road conditions, residents could only make the trip to the regional capital, Basse, once a day. Now, they enjoy seamless travel along the tarred road connecting Sotuma Sere, Basse, Demba Kunda, Numuyel, and Gambissara.
The new road allows farm produce to reach markets promptly and has greatly boosted inter-communal exchanges, thereby reinforcing social cohesion.
As a token of their appreciation, the communities pledged their votes to President Barrow in the upcoming presidential elections on December 5, 2026.
