In a press statement, The Gambia Police Force high command is deeply concerned with the unfortunate incident of an alleged attack by suspected armed robbers on residents and the PIU officers at the Fass Njaga Choi police checkpoint in Lower Nuimi District, North Bank Region.
“This particular incident happened on Sunday, 12th February 2023 around 4:00 am and resulted in the cause of injuries of one PIU officer, Cpl Lamin Jammeh, who was shot in his left hand. Similarly, it is also confirmed that two civilians, both male, were assaulted during the alleged attack. All three injured persons are currently responding to medical treatment at a health facility.”
Meanwhile, the police said they have arrested one suspect and he is now helping police with investigations.
